Finally!

We’ve been running Vibralizer on macOS personally for almost a year. So why wait to release it? Well, we wanted to provide the same seamless “It Just Works” experience that we have on Windows, where you can start up Vibralizer and it’s able to hear your system audio without installing any 3rd party plugins or virtual audio cables.

When you start Vibralizer on a Mac for the first time, it will show you a system prompt from macOS asking for your permission to share your system audio with Vibralizer. Choosing Allow will let Vibralizer react to anything playing on your Mac’s speakers, whether that’s Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, or a podcast.

Now would be a good time to restate: Vibralizer never stores or transmits any audio data, ever. Sound is analyzed on your device and it stays on your device. Period.

Vibralizer works best with a direct audio signal, so we strongly recommend users on macOS to allow system audio permission when asked. That said, if you ever decide you want to use Vibralizer without system audio permission, you can revoke access in your macOS System Settings at any time. Vibralizer still works great with a microphone or a virtual audio cable plugin like Blackhole.

There is still one caveat to our Mac release, and that is that the media display controls (currently in the bottom right) are only available on Windows. This is a hard technical limitation from macOS. While there are workarounds, they are unsanctioned by Apple and could break in future updates to macOS. They could also disqualify Vibralizer from being released on some storefronts. We want to keep our app honest and legit, so for now, media controls are Windows only.

This is a very exciting milestone that lets Vibralizer run in more places and brings more people into the Vibes. We look forward to an exciting future on Apple platforms! Stay tuned. 🙂

v0.4.3 Release Notes

Bug Fixes & Performance Improvements

General

Vibralizer should now start up and shut down faster, especially on older hardware.

Fixed an issue where Vibralizer might not shut down correctly when exiting via Steam.

Fixed a bug that caused Vibralizer to appear frozen if Bluetooth headphones were connected or disconnected during startup.

Minor re-tuning of Ring vibe to accommodate frequency cutoff of YouTube.

Media Display and Controls (Windows Only)

The Play/Pause button will now work properly with Apple Music.

Fixed an issue where the song track timeline could display incorrect durations or get stuck.

YouTube and browser-based music sources should now sync more reliably, especially when switching tracks.

Big news!
